Ageless energy

Hi there, we’re Steve and Rachael Jennings, and we’re so glad you’re here. In this edition, we’re diving into practices, habits, and stories that help us embody ageless energy. From minimalist workouts that keep you strong for decades to the power of meaningful social connections and simple, effective alternatives to traditional exercise, we’re here to help you tap into that energy and carry it forward, one day at a time.

Energy isn’t just about how we feel today—it’s about building a foundation for tomorrow. Ageless energy is the belief that vitality doesn’t have to fade with time; it can grow. It’s about making choices now that fuel our bodies, minds, and spirits for the long haul. From the way we move to how we nourish ourselves, every small step we take today is an investment in a vibrant, limitless future.

Here’s what we’ve got for you this week:

Be a minimalist

This minimalist workout will help you build strength and stay active well into your later years. Focused on five key exercises—pull-ups, goblet squats, push-ups, standing lunges, and single-leg deadlifts—this routine improves mobility, stability, and overall fitness. With minimal equipment, it’s easy to stay consistent and adapt as you progress, helping you enjoy a vibrant, active life.

Find your tribe

Did you know loneliness can be as harmful to your health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day? Research shows that meaningful social connections are essential for a longer, healthier life. Drawing insights from an 80-year Harvard study and personal experiences, this article highlights how belonging to fitness, religious, professional, or intentional communities can boost joy, purpose, and even longevity.

Simple alternative

A November 2024 study found that stair climbing can be just as effective as machine-based resistance training for improving muscle power and VO2 max. Older adults who climbed stairs for 12 weeks showed similar improvements in strength and endurance as those using gym machines. So, don’t underestimate the power of a good set of stairs!

Just have fun

Many experts argue that focusing on the joy of movement, rather than stringent exercise targets, can profoundly impact mental health. Activities such as community swimming or mindful walking that centre on enjoyment and connection can significantly enhance mental well-being. Prioritising fun and accessibility over intensity may be the key to remaining active and feeling better.
